New Music Tuesday

Lots of really good stuff out today. First, go ahead and download Brandi Carlile's newest, Bear Creek.

Next, queue up at least three albums on spotify: The Temper Trap's "The Way We Move" (Need Your Love is great); then Scissor Sisters' Magic Hour and then Langhorne Slim's "The Way We Move." And that is at least a half day of great music.

Um, and must go concert? Rock & Roll Hotel has Langhorne Slim and Ha Ha Tonka on June 13. Run, don't walk, to buy tickets.

Langhorne

I know I've written an ode to Langhorne Slim before, but I really do like "Back to the Wild" and "I Love You, But Goodbye."  Apparently he's recording a new album.

And another favorite, Justin Townes Earle, is coming to the Birchmere on May 18. Add that to my growing list of concerts I would like to get to see.

Artists I Usually Forget About

I am listening to some Langhorne Slim tonight, and it reminded me how much I like him. "I Love You But Goodbye" and "Back to the Wild" are both terrific tracks from the 2009 album "Be Set Free."

There are loads of albums I have on my ipod, many artists of which I haven't explored much. And the related artist page for LS is a good one--Deer Tick, Cave Singers, Phosphorescent, William Elliott Whitmore, Low Anthem, Justin Townes Earle, Ben Kweller, Low Anthem, etc. All stuff that I very, very much like.

Another good one? Fitz and the Tantrums. Just about everything I've heard off of that, including "Pickin' Up the Pieces" and "MoneyGrabber," is fun.
