SXSW

So much great music going on with SXSW. A few of the artists I'd choose to see:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Lone Bellow
Lissie
Frightened Rabbit
Ivan & Alyosha
Josh Ritter
Kopecky Family Band
Shout Out Louds
Telekinesis
Thao & the Get Down Stay Down

Here's a great mix from NPR previewing the weekend's music.

Highlights and Not So Highlights from SXSW

Bob Boilen is usually spot on with his critiques of music, so here's his take on SXSW. I have to say that there didn't seem to be as many notable music acts/concerts this year, but perhaps coverage was just down.  Plus there are plenty of upcoming music festivals to look forward to!

SXSW

If I were going to SXSW, based on this list, these artists would be the ones I'd most anticipate.

Eleanor Friedberger
fun.
Garland Jeffries
Of Monsters and Men
Fanfarlo
Seryn
Sharon van Etten
Tanlines
Shearwater
Sarah Jaffe
We Are Augustines
Cults

For now, I will just have to listen on Spotify...

More SXSW

Here's a good preview, courtesy of NPR Music. Sigh. Wish I could go. I really liked Daughter's Landfill and Bright Moment's Travelers.

SXSW Mix

NPR features a fantastic mix of SXSW artists HERE.  Highlights include Nada Surf, Laura Gibson, Andrew Bird, Alabama Shakes, Cults, Eleanor Friedberger, the Magnetic Fields, Great Lake Swimmers, Shearwater, Sarah Jaffe, and Of Monsters and Men. Many free MP3s, too.

And here's a neat feature of Music In Political Campaigns.  Add Mitt Romney and Kid Rock to the list!
