New Music: Blitzen Trapper and Tired Pony

The NYT is streaming two anticipated new releases: Blitzen Trapper and Tired Pony. Next week, Basia Bulat and Haim also release new albums. October might be the most blockbuster month yet in a standout new music year.

New Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper has a new album out on October 1. Check out "Shine On" here.

The fittingly titled forthcoming VII, Blitzen Trapper’s seventh full-length, is filled with the vivid lyrical imagery that fans came to love in years past, but feels a bit more danceable with heavy beats and guitar licks that make the album feel all the more danceable compared to the band’s previous work.

New Music Tuesday

Three groups I've mentioned on here already have their albums finally out today: Blitzen Trapper's American Goldwing, Mates of State, and Blind Pilot, the latest of which I bought after streaming on NPR Music and downloading a free tune off of Amazon. I am confident that at least one, if not more, will show up on my list of favorite albums of the year.

BTW, all of the groups will be in DC.  Both Mates of State and Blind Pilot will be at the 9:30 Club. Blitzen Trapper and Dawes will be at the Black Cat. If I could, I'd be a concert junkie offering my review/recommendation service. Just sayin'...

New Blitzen Trapper

Stream of the day is the new Blitzen Trapper, out September 13. I'm already a fairly big fan of the tracks I've heard already, particularly American Goldwing and Love the Way You Walk Away.  Great folksy, rootsy, rock.

New Music Tuesday

I love Tuesdays because new albums come out on Tuesdays. There does not seem to be much hitting this week, but upcoming releases include Beirut and today's top listening pick Blitzen Trapper.American Goldwing comes out on September 13, and I'm already enjoying the first two singles off of the album.

And for good measure, I'm also listening to Death Cab. SO sad I missed out on their tour with Frightened Rabbit!
