I'm tired of hearing Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana on DC radio. I loved those tunes back in college, but it's 2011. Here are some picks of what the radio should be playing.

Best of a Little Early
Paste is ranking the top 25 songs (thus far) of the year. I firmly resist doing this exercise until late December, though I suspect that a few of these artists, like Iron & Wine, Decemberists, and Middle Brother will make the list (the Head & the Heart made last year's). I also like that Dodo's song, Black Night, and the Peter Bjorn & John one "Dig a Little Deeper." The folk rock-ish theme is a big one for me this year, and I suspect that something from Dawes, the Cave Singers, Okkervil River, and Joseph Arthur will also make it on. Also, very likely Foster the People, Naked & the Famous, Eleanor Friedberger (My Mistakes is one of the best tracks of the summer!), Beirut, and Death Cab will also be on there. It does make me realize that there has been a lot of great music in 2011 thus far. I'm looking forward to what tunes I'll fall in love with over the next four months!
