REM Breaking Up

REM announced today it was breaking up after over three decades together. It's been a while since their heyday, though I did like their release, Collapse Into Now, earlier this year.

So many bands seem to stay together and perform for years. It is amazing that the core of the group could stay together since the 1970s. Here's hoping there will be a reunion tour someday, and perhaps more collaborations (like with Natalie Merchant?) for Michael Stipes in the future.

Paste ranks the best REM songs.  Driver 8, Nightswimming, Finest Worksong, Fall on Me, and What's the Frequency Kenneth. I really like Belong. I also really like Discoverer from earlier this year. Sidewinder is another favorite. I Believe. Bad Day. So Fast So Number. Leave. Out of Time, an album that took me a while to get, quickly became a favorite. And Crazy. Maybe my favorite. I just cannot decide.
