I'm tired of hearing Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana on DC radio. I loved those tunes back in college, but it's 2011. Here are some picks of what the radio should be playing.

Fanfarlo Take Two
We saw Fanfarlo last night at the U Street Music Hall. Despite what was a bad night for them (apparently a van braekdown and lack of soundcheck), the concert was fun. They played quite a bit of "Rooms Filled with Light," though I still think the highlight was Harold T. Wilkins, which closed out their main set. They only played "Bones" and "I'm a Pilot" for their encore. We definitely enjoyed the Red Palace show more, which was a bit more intimate and experimental, since it was several months before their new "baby" was born. However, it is such good music, and we enjoyed it. I think "Tunguska" was really the only new track off their new album they didn't play that we would have liked to hear. Replicate, Deconstruction, Tightrope, Feathers...all of our favorites. As for the venue, it was basement like and the sound wasn't great. Very loud. Young Man opened, and they mainly came across as loud.
