A few days late, but better than never...
So three albums stood out to me in January 2013. Ra Ra Riot's danceable "Beta Love" made my purchase list. Lone Bellow's debut album made them the The Head and the Civil Wars. And "We the Common" by Thao & the Get Down Stay Down made another spirited release that is so catchy and singable.
Another highlight was Jim James of My Morning Jacket. His album streamed on the much loved NPR Music. I also enjoyed tracks "Can't Hold Us," "Forest Serenade" by the Joy Formidable, and Tegan & Sara's "Closer." I really enjoyed the latter's new album, too.
There are also a lot of artists debuting singles for anticipated 2013 releases like Hey Marseilles, Shout Out Louds, and the Cold War Kids. Bring it on!
