I'm tired of hearing Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana on DC radio. I loved those tunes back in college, but it's 2011. Here are some picks of what the radio should be playing.

Jason Isbell
Jason Isbell's new album "Southeastern" is a confessional, intimate country rock. The music was influenced by his recovery from alcoholism, and it's deeply emotional music. The lead track, "Cover Me Up" is not so much a romantic ballad but a note to a new wife to demonstrate his fidelity and love. "Stockholm" is another standout and is a bit more upbeat. Perfect for fans of Justin Townes Earle or Cory Chisel.
