"Bahamas Is Afie," out Tuesday, is Jurvanen's third solo album of smart, sweet and slightly off-center pop. His records feel a little like the late 1970s, but a modern sensibility runs through all of his work, which includes 2009's "Pink Strat" and 2012's excellent "Barchords."
"Bahamas Is Afie," the title of which is indicative of Jurvanen's sense of humor, is a warm, lushly produced collection that has a hushed beauty.
I'm tired of hearing Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana on DC radio. I loved those tunes back in college, but it's 2011. Here are some picks of what the radio should be playing.
